Regarding contact information, this comment form requires your name and email address. If the commenter provides accurate information (no real guarantee of that, though), we will have contact information.

An alternative is to allow everyone to login to the website, in which case the identification information will not be required on the comment panel. And yes, we could configure it to allow either situation.

As an experiment, this comment is entered without login. My previous comment (the one with the list of New Way comments) was posted while logged in to the website.

Took a quick study of New Way UMC’s Facebook comments from last week’s worship. They seem to fall into the following categories.
– Greetings
– Prayer requests
– General comments about the worship service
– Comments about sermon context
– Additional reference information about sermon context, sometimes with link
– Challenge from the church (“look back through the comments and pray for somebody this week”)
– Upcoming events

All comments here are “moderated” and must be approved before they actually show up on the page. We can remove that restriction. We can also build a list of words that are not allowed in the comments. For example, “Trump” or “Biden” could automatically send a comment to the trash. While this is certainly not ideal, it might be a good way to allow us to turn off the forced moderation and still prevent comments that go against our objectives.

All comments will be “public” – everyone viewing the discussion will be able to see all comments. Is that acceptable?
